6-8pm SPAB Old House Project – Repairing an old house in an ecological and sustainable way – A real life case study’. This talk will be presented by architect and SPAB Scholar Mal Fryer, and will detail some of the work undertaken at the house so far.
Following that Marianne Suhr (co-author of the SPAB’s Old House Eco Handbook) and Jonny Garlick of SPAB will join Mal for a 45-minute virtual discussion and debate of how the proposals mentioned will be put into practice using the SPAB’s Approach. This is a great chance to listen in to cutting edge sustainability practice for historic buildings, and take part in a real discussion about work the SPAB will be undertaking in 2022.
IHBC and partners in practice 3: Sustainable conservation
3-5PM STBAUK: Sustainable Traditional Buildings Alliance (STBA) Director, Peter Draper, will be taking questions about sustainable retrofit of traditionally built homes. As a Building Surveyor, PAS2035 Retrofit Co-ordinator and DEA, Peter will be more than willing to tackle some tricky retrofit questions from our own homes.
John Preston IHBC, Heritage Chair of the STBA, will also be on hand to help with heritage-related questions.

They will be joined by SPAB Director Matthew Slocombe from 4pm for a wide-ranging SPAB Q&A session / conversation, making this SPAB’s COP26 ‘showcase event’.
